According to Wikipedia, the Internet of things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the Internet. It also seems like the most overused phrase that’ out there today. So, of course I jump on the bandwagon. I don’t want to be left out!
One example is the smart lawn sprinkler controller I use at home. I think it’s amazing. I used to get frustrated when my sprinkler would start running during a rainstorm. No longer. There are weather stations nearby. If it’s raining, or if showers are predicted, it doesn’t run. Smart. Good use of IoT.
